Katharina Alber (AUT)

Katharina Alber is the only female Boogie Woogie piano player in Austria.
She discovered her love of the music listening to her grandfather playing jazz on the piano.  At the age of five Katharina began to take piano lessons and when aged 14 she began studying clarinet and saxophone, occasionally playing jazz music with her grandfather.
When Katharina was 20, she discovered boogie woogie piano and had lessons with Austrian boogie pianist Robert Roth.
Katharina enjoyed boogie woogie so much that in 2015 she introduced her own “Kathi’s Boogie & Jazz Festival” in Innsbruck!
In 2016 she performed at the Boogie Festival in Laroquebrou, France and also played at two Festivals in the USA last year. Katharina has shared the stage with boogie legends such as  Axel Zwingenberger,  Bob Seeley, Jean-Paul Amouroux, Martin Pyrker, Silvan Zingg, and many more fantastic musicians.

We are delighted to welcome Katharina to this year’s festival and you can see her perform at the Stour Hall in The Exchange on Friday evening.

Daniel Paterok (GER)

Daniel Paterok was born in 1985 and received his first piano lessons when he was just five years old. In 1994, he began receiving instruction from the great piano teacher, Professor Gregor Weichert. During his 11 years of classical piano training, he won the first prize in the "Jugend Musiziert" piano competition on several occasions.
Daniel was bitten by the boogie woogie bug during a visit to the United States after watching the film “The Majestic”.
Back home in Germany, he studied this style of piano playing under the guidance of our headline act from last year, Christian Bleiming. Soon he founded the Daniel Paterok Boogie Trio and released his first two CDs in 2011 and 2013.
When Daniel is not touring, he teaches piano at the university in his hometown of Munster, as well as composing contemporary piano music in his studio at home.
In 2017 Daniel began touring with the newly founded rock n' roll band “The Lenne Rockets”. Daniel received the prestigious “Pinetop Boogie Woogie Award’’ in the Boogie & Swing Piano category.

We offer Daniel a warm welcome to our festival here in Dorset and you can see him on Saturday evening at the Stour Hall in The Exchange.

Ethan Leinwand (USA) & Miss Jubilee (USA)

Ethan Leinwand and Miss Jubilee (aka The St. Louis Steady Grinders) play old-school, long lost, low-down piano blues from their hometown of St. Louis, MO. Featuring powerhouse vocals and foot-stomping piano, this duo brings the youth, joy and authenticity back into a forgotten repertoire. Vocalist Miss Jubilee (Valerie Kirchhoff) is one of St. Louis's finest early jazz and blues singers. Her knowledge of the music, combined with the depth and power of her voice, make her one of the most sought after singers in the region.

Pianist Ethan Leinwand moved to St. Louis in 2014, specifically to play blues with Valerie.  Ethan has quickly become a mainstay in his adopted city, performing solo and with multiple projects. Ethan performs throughout the United States and Europe, and is gaining recognition as one of the world’s leading exponents of barrelhouse blues piano.
